Pres. Candidate Willie Wilson to Perform with Gospel Group
During 1st Campaign Fundraiser
Slated to Host One-hour Talk Show on WVON Radio this Saturday
Chicago (Aug 21, 2015) – Presidential candidate Willie Wilson is capping off a 30-city tour, which included a stop in Springfield on Thursday at the Illinois State Fair, by returning to the Chicago area for his first official fundraiser. The two-hour fundraiser will feature a mass choir of more than 200 representatives from 100 Chicago-area churches, and performances by Wilson, an Emmy Award-winning gospel music singer.
The fundraiser is set to take place Sunday, Aug. 23, beginning at 3 p.m. at
Holy Temple Cathedral, located at 15912 South Lincoln Highway in Harvey. Admission is free to attend, although donations to Wilson's campaign will be accepted.
Wilson will sing with his Singsation! music group, which is featured on his television show of the same name. Singsation! is a half-hour gospel music show that airs Sunday mornings on WGN television.
Wilson also is preparing to host a one-hour talk show on WVON radio this Saturday only. The candidate will speak about his campaign planks on economic development, education, public safety, national faith-based initiatives and equal opportunity, while fielding calls from listeners.
Popular radio personality Cliff Kelley of WVON radio will host the talk show beginning at 3 p.m.
Wilson, who struck gold with thousands of Chicagoans earlier this year with his mayoral campaign, promising an administration that would focus on “compassion and opportunity for all,” has been touring the nation in hopes of capturing the Democratic nomination for president in 2016. His stops have included this week’s visit to South Carolina, as well as tours to Iowa, Indiana, New Hampshire, Washington, D.C., Louisiana, Florida, Alabama and Michigan.
Wilson is the only current Illinois resident who is running for the nation’s top office. More information about Wilson can be found at www.WillieWilson2016.com.
